Phyllis Kyomuhendo - Assistant DirectorMedical Radiographer
Phyllis Kyomuhendo is a passionate Ugandan social entrepreneur and innovator with three years of experience in the social-innovations sector. Phyllis is a master´s degree in Public Health candidate, a medical radiographer by profession. She is also the director and co-founder at the startup, M-SCAN Uganda. Through M-SCAN Uganda, she and her team develop low-cost mobile ultrasound devices to combat maternal and neonatal mortality in low resource settings. Phyllis is a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow. She also mentors young girls under the STEM Queens program in Uganda.

I am an oil and gas specialist , a professional Rigger and Health and safety specialist . I am passionate about working with and motivating young people because they are the future of this generation . My name is Ayesigwa Samantha. I am an Environmental Engineer by profession and an entrepreneur. I currently work at a consultancy firm that deals in environmental aspects like Environmental Impact Assessments and Audits among others. I am also a part of STEM Queens Uganda. My advice to ladies in the field of STEM is there is nothing you can't do with God as your foundation and lead. Always strive to be your best no matter what and remember to seek the Kingdom of God and the rest shall surely fall into place.
Samalie PiwanGraduate Trainee - Stanbic Bank
Samalie is one of the newest members of STEM Queens! She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Samalie values two things - learning and helping. While science has always been her favorite subject, she has found her place in the world of technology. Professionally, she is a Web and Android developer and on the side, she is also a volunteer with Uganda Unites, a non-profit organization for peace and conflict resolution.
Samalie adds to the team 3 years of mentorship experience, a love for science and another resident I.T guru.

I just newly joined STEM Queens Uganda! I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology who was recently interning with the Infectious Diseases Institute as a Laboratory Technologist. I have a passion for research, in specific ``Phage Biology`` and have a hope that it can be revived as a therapeutic method and therefore I work towards that goal. I have the hope that STEM Queens will give me the platform to access people and resources required to achieve this goal.

I hold a bachelors degree in Statistics from Kyambogo University and currently working with NUSAF3 under Office of the Prime Minister as a data entrant. I am a critical thinker and very keen with formulas and numbers. I believe that data, if well handled, is key in strategizing and problem solving.
On the other hand, I fell in love with art and picked up graphics designing as a hobby. My superpower is a relentless drive to keep solutions simple both in analysis and design.

I am a Biomedical Scientist that started her PhD in Clinical Science & Immunology in January 2020 at the University of Cape Town. I work with the South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI), on a project that involves evaluating gene signatures that distinguish between tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. My advice for fellow women in STEM and others that are passionate about it is to invest in good mentorship and an ever-present support system. Passion, determination and zeal are essential to push through the storms that come with the career that you have chosen but it is even more important to have the knowledge and wisdom required for one to go through all the hurdles and confusion that comes your way.
